Veterans will have the opportunity to learn about the MISSION Act including new and urgent care benefits that are now available to veterans enrolled in VA health care including new telehealth resources and urgent care access. Veterans can also learn about and sign up for local, state and federal benefits with assistance on hand to receive their DD-214, service medals, service treatment records, personnel files, or a copy of their VBA file, among other resources.
In addition to the resources listed above, constituents will also have the chance to sign up to participate in Rep. Gonzalez’s Veterans History Project with the Library of Congress to preserve their stories as part of our nation’s history and meet with members of Rep. Gonzalez’s staff about issues they may be having with the Department of Veterans Affairs. The Cleveland Veterans Affairs Regional Office (VARO) , National Cemetery Administration, Northeast Ohio VA Medical Center, and Cuyahoga County Veterans’ Service Commission will also be on hand to assist with a range of items from compensation and pension claims to earned and untapped health care resources and benefits.
Importantly, veterans will also be able to obtain a Veterans Document Identification Card through the Cuyahoga County Veterans’ Service Commission for just $1. To receive a card, veterans will need to bring a copy of their DD-214 and present one form of identification from the following: a valid driver’s license, certified birth certificate, Social Security card, a valid United States passport, a valid conceal & carry permit, or an identification card from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. One of the forms of identification must be a photo ID.
