Family honored by bill to rename North Canton post office

The city’s post office could become the first in the state to be named after a woman veteran.

U.S. Rep. Anthony Gonzalez, R-Rocky River who represents the 16th Congressional District that includes parts of Stark County, introduced a bill this week to name the newly constructed post office after U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Stacy ”’Annie” Dryden.

“Reopening North Canton’s post office was a long-fought battle, and I can think of no better way to mark that accomplishment than by naming our post office after one of Northeast Ohio’s own who lost her life while serving our nation,” Gonzalez said in a statement about the effort. “Lance Cpl. Annie Dryden was a true patriot and bravely took up the call to serve our country. I am incredibly humbled to have the chance to honor her in this way and look forward to seeing this bill signed into law.”
