U.S. Congressmen Anthony Gonzalez (OH-16), Mike Turner (OH-10), Bob Latta (OH-5), Dave Joyce (OH-14), Steve Stivers (OH-15), and Brad Wenstrup (OH-2) are requesting the Trump Administration provide at least 5 million rapid COVID-19 tests to the state of Ohio to help reopen schools, test high-risk Ohioans, and strengthen the state’s economic recovery. In a letter addressed to President Trump, the congressmembers urge the distribution of these tests ahead of the annual flu season to help Ohioans quickly determine whether their symptoms are due to COVID-19 or the seasonal flu.
“Rapid testing that is affordable and ubiquitous will help control the spread of the coronavirus and ensure our health care system and government leaders have the most up to date information in order to make more informed decisions,” states the letter. “…We respectfully request that the state of Ohio receive at least 5 million tests in a timely manner to help the state better respond to the pandemic.”
