Washington, DC, January 4, 2019
U.S. Representative Anthony Gonzalez (R – Rocky River) released the following statement after voting “yes” on Friday’s package to help bring Congress into the 21st Century:
“I came to Congress on a promise to make our government work for the people again, and a big part of that is bringing this governing body into the 21st Century. On my second day in Congress, it’s already clear that the modernization of Congress is long overdue. I’m proud to have voted for this bill that will help update Congress with new technology, streamlined administrative processes and improved staff recruitment to help our workplace reflect the diverse makeup of our country at large.”
H. Res. 6, Title II, voted on Friday morning in the U.S. House of Representatives, creates a unique bipartisan select committee with the sole purpose of developing recommendations to modernize the United States Congress from top to bottom. The committee will investigate ways to modernize Congress by utilizing technology and innovation, improving administrative efficiency, and bringing a more diverse Congressional staff to Capitol Hill.
